Voice & Vision develops and produces vibrant theater works with women at the core, and provides them with time, space, and resources to create in an environment free from commercial pressures. Each summer, Voice & Vision invites artists to develop new theater projects in residence at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The Retreat participants are part of a collaborative and dynamic artistic atmosphere where they can focus on further developing and performing their projects.
Vital to this experience is the team of staff and interns who facilitate all aspects of the ENVISION Retreat. Internships available: Administrative, Artistic, Dramaturgy, Photography, Production, Stage Management, and Videography
The Administrative Intern works with the Producer, Company Manager, and Office Manager, supporting administrative functions of the Retreat. This internship involves advance work in New York City in May and June in addition to duties performed at the Retreat.
The Artistic Interns work as project assistants to Retreat artists in developing their projects. This may involve assistant directing, research, script assistance, and/or technical assistance depending on the needs of the project. Artistic Interns function as a liaison between Retreat artists and staff and are a valuable resource to Retreat artists. Artistic Interns will also provide administrative and production support when not working with artists.
The Dramaturgy Intern works with the Retreat Dramaturg. Duties may involve research, script reading, working with artists. Must have background in dramaturgy.
The Photography Intern respectfully documents events and daily life at the Retreat. The Photo Intern is also responsible for organizing all photo files. This internship requires a sensitivity to the needs of the Retreat artists and respect for their processes as well as good photo skills. Please submit portfolio in digital format with application.
The Production Intern works with the Production Manager, assessing and facilitating technical needs for all Retreat projects.
The Stage Management Intern works with the Stage Manager, facilitating space and day-to-day rehearsal needs. Stage management background preferred.
The Videography Intern respectfully documents the Retreat, shooting video of presentations and daily life at the Retreat. The Video Intern is also responsible for capturing all footage and preserving it in a digital format. Further projects may be possible with permission of V&V staff. This internship requires a sensitivity to the needs of the Retreat artists and respect for their processes as well as good video skills. Please submit work sample with application.
All Visionary Interns work collaboratively with Retreat staff to create a positive experience for the Retreat artists. All interns and staff participate in load-in, strike, and kitchen duties. Other duties and opportunities may be presented as appropriate.
Visionary Interns work onsite at Bard College June 9-27. Breakfast and dinner provided while at Bard College. Lodging and transportation between New York City and Bard College provided.
